About Tanya

Tanya Alexander grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, obtained a B.S. from Ohio University, in Athens, OH, a M.B.A. from Goizueta Business School at Emory University, and a Bookkeeping Certificate from UGA. She has been an avid runner and athlete throughout must of her adult life, running four marathons and several half marathons, including the Boston Marathon. Although the running began to take a toll on Tanya’s body, so she discovered yoga as a way to relieve the stress induced from running and other cardio based sports. Developing an active bikram practice at first, and then moving onto a hot yoga practice at several studios in Atlanta as her life became busier. Her passion for yoga motivated Tanya to become yoga teacher, and she obtained the RYT 200 certification through Yoga Alliance. There are so many things about yoga that bring her back to her mat; yoga is a practice, each class I learn something new about my myself and my practice, my breathing practice is essential during yoga and I should always be aware of it, the mind and body connection that yoga provides to me allows me to be more present in other aspects of my life. As a yoga teacher Tanya looks forward to growing her yoga community and sharing her love of yoga to her students whether they are new to or have been practicing for years. Tanya lives in Atlanta, with her husband, two children and 100+ pound German Shepard.
